Current behavior for Inscriber is that top slot item is input from top side of the block, silicon input from bottom, and some materials from sides to go middle slot. Sides are also suitable for pipes to pull ready products out. Now then, it would be theoretically possible that any item can be input and output from any side of the Inscriber, and it would automatically know which slot to place them. This would make autocrafting with ME interface alot easier, if you would only need 1 ME interface on top of it, without any item pipes needed. Perhaps just 1 pipeline or import bus to pull ready items out, if it's not auto-ejecting to attached container such as the same ME interface. As far as i know, not even oredictionary is needed with this, because all the items involved are specific ones. Redstone, gold ingots, pure certus quartz are all unique... maybe IC2 industrial diamonds is only one that can use oredict, but even that recipe propably makes real diamonds in current versions.

You can rotate the inscriber, and you don't need pipes, you can automate the inscriber with 100% AE2 as it is right now, doing this would just make this easier, I don't see a point in that since they are not that hard to automate as it is, and making things easier just for the sack of making them easier removes the need to build a machine or layout a system, it also would completely remove the "1 inscriber challenge"
